Gail Kendall Workshop

In this workshop Gail will demonstrate the techniques she use to construct the various hand built pottery forms make: teapots, tea caddies, platters, plates, and more. Gail constructs everything from soft slabs and coils using paper templates, bisque molds, and a few simple tools. She will also demonstrate surface techniques with the use of slip, sgrafitto, and ‘tattooing’. Participants will receive a handout of all formulas along with an image/lecture showing how glazes, underglazes, and china paints have been used on particular pieces. Finally, on the final afternoon, a brief ‘hands-on’ project will be presented for participants to work directly with templates, clay and slip to construct a plate or dish.
