Today, it is the focus of the largest environmental
cleanup in history.The movie Arid Lands takes us into

developers, and radiation scientists living and working
in a unique landscape of the American West.

The 2008 Blues Music Association Award winners were
announced 5/9/08. The 2008 winner for BOTH Blues
Band of the Year and Album of the Year ("The Wheel")
is Watermelon Slim and the Workers!
Born in in Boston, Mass., and raised in North Carolina,
Bill "Watermelon Slim" Homans has taken his blues
all over the USA, Europe, and SE Asia.  During a career
spanning over 30 years, Watermelon Slim has played with the
late Henry "Sunflower" Vestine of Canned Heat,
Bonnie Raitt, Robert Cray, the late John Lee Hooker,
and in France with Champion Jack Dupree.  Now joined
by veteran players Michael Newberry (drums), Ronnie Mack
(guitar), and Cliff Belcher (bass), Watermelon Slim & the
Workers is quickly becoming the most talked about blues
band today.

Lakota Sioux Dance Theatre

The renowned Lakota Sioux Dance Theater will perform
Cokata Upo! (Come to the Center!).  This work
celebrates the culture of the Lakota people and will be
performed in three parts: birth, death and rebirth of a
nation. The program includes the grass, jingle dress,
fancy, traditional, horse, buffalo, eagle, round and
inter-tribal dances, juxtaposed with dance interpretations
of the Lakota warrior tradition.
There will be a 9:30 a.m. performance for schoolchildren.
